How to Pick a Song for Your Father-Daughter Dance At Your Wedding

Sometimes it can be hard to pick one Father-Daughter Dance song for you wedding that really encompasses how you and your dad feel about each other. He's your hero. You're his little girl. You both have so many memories of you growing up. The first time you rode a bike on your own. The first time you planted your little feet and wouldn't back down in an argument against him. The first time you realized that there was a possibility that he may just know what he's talking about. The first time he realized that you knew what you were talking about. And now you're all grown up and getting married. There are a lot of emotions and memories that will be floating around your minds in the space of that one song.

When thinking about the song you want to use for the Father-Daughter Dance, a great place to start is to do a web search. There are a lot of websites that you can go to that have a list of the most popular songs for the Father-Daughter Dance. Just reading through the titles can bring tears to your eyes. The most popular songs for this special dance are so popular for a very good reason. Every one of them encompass the feelings of love, pride and admiration that a father and daughter feel for one another. Any of these songs are always a wonderful choice.

If sentimentality isn't something you and your dad are comfortable with, or you just don't think you'd be able to handle such deep emotions one more time on your wedding day without bursting into tears, think about doing something different. Some fathers and daughters choose to do something other than a classic slow dance for their Father-Daughter Dance. Think back over the years. Is there a song that your dad really loves, or a song that represents something you and your dad both really enjoy? If you and your dad share a love of the ocean or are avid surfers, maybe a Father-Daughter Dance to an old 1960's surf song. Maybe there's a song from that school play back in high school that he helped you practice for hours? Or maybe he's an Elvis man. There are a lot of different songs and styles of music that can be just as touching and sentimental as a classic Father-Daughter Dance song. It doesn't have to be a slow song to be just as much of a reflection of your love and admiration of one another.

Taking a few dance lessons to put a little bit of polish on some rusty dancing shoes can be a lot of fun for both of you. With a little bit of practice, you and your dad can turn a classic Father-Daughter Dance song into a beautiful waltz, or you can have a whole routine built around his favorite classic rock song.

No matter what kind of song you and your dad use for the Father-Daughter Dance at your wedding, the most important thing is for you and your dad to enjoy yourselves and really cherish this special moment that you have to spend together.

Learning to dance is the same as any new skill. It takes patience and practice. Unlike other skills though, learning to dance is fun at every stage. Yes, it becomes more fun the better you get, but all beginners in my lessons have fun right away.

So if you are having fun right away, imagine how much fun you have when you can move your body confidently on the dance floor. Dancing really is a great way to get fit, meet people, improve your confidence and have fun. For private or wedding dance lessons visit my site: http://www.dancevogue.com.au/

The Music In Gossip Girl Episode 18 - "Much 'I Do' About Nothing" Season Finale

Much of the final episode of Gossip Girl revolves around the wedding of Lily and Bert, so understandably there is a lot of classical music used in the scenes. But, there is enough room to squeeze in a few pop songs and the choices aren't all that bad. Some of the groups already have a lot of exposure, but one or two of the selections feature new sounds.

Before the wedding begins Blair and Dan scheme to expose Georgina and her lies to her parents, when they all meet in the park Do You Wanna by The Kooks plays along as Georgina learns about her future home. Beautiful World by Carolina Liar plays in the background as Serena desperately tries to get in contact with Dan and then leaves a message that she is coming over. This same song is played again at Lily and Bart's wedding as well as a lot of classical selection and other songs that add to the festive mood.

As family and friends are arriving for the wedding and the place is buzzing with pre wedding preparations, Time To Pretend by MGMT drives the action. After a classical piece, Bridal Chorus by Wagner begins to play. This necessary song is followed by two more classical pieces that play through the wedding reception and then through Blair and Vanessa's conversation about Nate.

The final song of the episode was the very appropriate, The Ice is Getting Thinner by Death Cab For Cutie. This song plays through the entire ending of the wedding including, while Chuck is making his best man speech at the wedding, when Blair and Chuck kiss, and as Serena and Dan are forced to dance after they have just broken up. Do You Wanna by The Kooks returns for the closing montage and the end of the season.

Yellowcard - SHIELD T-shirt, Charcoal

Yellowcard is a rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. Their music can be classified as pop punk, and contains elements of emocore. A distinct characteristic of the music of Yellowcard is their use of a violin, making them somewhat unique within this genre

Intellectual giftedness is an intellectual ability significantly higher than average.

A skill is the learned capacity or talent to carry out pre-determined results often with the minimum outlay of time, energy, or both.

A marked ability or skill. The potential or factual ability to perform a skill better than most people.

A Talent is the natural ability to do a thing. Whether it be Write, Sing, Sports or Invent or Create. A Talent can not be taught or learned it is a Natural thing inside of a person. You can add to or build up a Talent to make it better useful and you can also lose a Talent by letting it sit dormant for a period of time. For example, if a singer doesn't sing for awhile, they lose that ability to hit the high or low notes. If a sports player is injured and has to be out for a season or two, they must reestablish him or her self. To gain full potential from a Talent, one must practice it everyday.

Example:

When I was 3 years old, I had a two year old brother and a 4 year old brother. My dad had bought a guitar and began to learn how to play it. Dad began to teach us to sing Gospel Music. But it just came Natural to us. We could hear a song just one time and we could sing it all the way through. Less than a year after we started singing we were getting invited to come visit and sing at other churches. Soon after that we were singing at the radio station. People loved to hear us sing Southern Gospel Music. As time went on, we added more places to go to and sing. More family members, and even sang at 2 different TV Stations a few times. We even sang for the City of Kings Mountain and was picked up to go to the event and brought home in a police car. That was exciting. My family had the Talent to sing and make music. We have sang in almost every church in North and South Carolina.

A Talent is born within a person. Not everyone has a Talent. Can you run faster than anyone in the neighborhood? Can you jump higher than anyone? Can you just pick up any type instrument and fool around with it a few minutes and then play a song? Can you just fix things? Then you have a Talent.

A Talent can save you money. A Talent can make you money. A Talent can be hard work. A talent can be fun. A talent can do amazing things. If and when you find out what type Talent you have and build on it and grow it. It can and most times is a life changing experience.

Michael Wood is the Author of many Southern Gospel Music Songs as well as a few Country Music Songs.
My Family and I have been in and around music for some 51 years. 14 of those years we toured all over North and South Carolina. Singing in countless Churches, Radio Stations, and 2 different TV Stations.
Unable to carry the high note for the distance I once did. Due to physical disabilities. I now write. You can listen to several samples and even purchase a CD online at:

Parachutes

Australian Tour Edition of this Huge Selling Album features a Bonus CD with Four Tracks Including Acoustic Performances of 'yellow' and 'spies'.
Customer Review: greatest album they'll ever make
Parachutes has a distinct sound that can only come from coldplay. The sound producer did an excellent job, as he also did on A Rush of Blood to the Head (which why I'm sad that coldplay parted ways with him during the recording of X&Y). I have been playing music for almost my whole life and the rhythm section (Will and Guy) does an awesome job of getting everybody on the same page without oversimplifying their sound. They are the ones that really set the stage with compound rhythms. Jonny and Chris's expertise are showcased in all of these songs, which are more acoustically whole than I thought a band could make. If you are a new fan to coldplay, then take this album for what it is. It doesn't have the simple poppy beats and lyrics of their current lineup (which is still pretty good). Every band goes thru phases during their tenure and Parachutes was made when ALL members of the band were in snyc and worked towards a balanced sound. This album is a masterpiece and will always be the best album to introduce new listeners to coldplay.
Customer Review: Australian Import of "Parachutes" Has Great Bonus Tracks
It's been 4+ years since the original release of Coldplay's debut album in the UK (the US release would follow in Nov. 2000), and as the phenom called Coldplay is getting bigger and bigger, it's now clear that "Parachutes" is a classic, in every sense of the word. By now, the original 10 tracks of the album all have become so instantly familiar, yet never tiresome. There is of course "Yellow", the US break-through single but for me probably the weakest track on the set. Check out instead "Shiver", "Don't Panic" (with the immortal line "We Live in a Beautiful World"), "Trouble" and Sparks", 4 other singles from the album (all of them still available on Amazon). The Australian import version of "Parachutes" (14 tracks, 56 min.) comes with 4 additional tracks on a separate CD: "Sparks" in the album version (nothing new here), but then also "Careful Where You Stand" which is a b-side from the "Shiver" single, "Yellow" in an accoustic version that in my opinion is actually better than the original version, and the hauntingly beautiful "See You Soon", which originally appeared on the "Blue Room" EP. Both "Careful" and "See You Soon" are essentials in the Coldplay catalogue. We now await Coldplay's new album, which supposedly will come out in Spring 2005. Who knows whether that's gonna be any good, but for sure it's gonna be a monster, and Coldplay is well on its way to be the next U2. Meanwhile, enjoy the humble and intimate debut album which I dare say Chris and the boys will never surpass.

The experts at California DJs know all the secret elements - and the not-so-secret ones too all to help you plan the ultimate wedding reception that is perfectly you! Use these 10 essential elements to create the perfect day for you and your guests.

1. Generously Invite

Writing the guest list what a challenge! How do you agree on whom to invite and still stay within your budget? Heres the bottom line. You are preparing for the most magical day of your life and in the end only one thing will matter the public declaration of your love and commitment and each and every person there to witness it.

We encourage you to invite every person you love. Your guests are the focal point of this very special day. Cut back on the cost of the dinner, limit the hours of the open bar, but dont cross off names. As you fondly remember your wedding day, you will not remember the per-person cost. You will remember glowing faces of the people celebrating your union the buzz at the reception the clink of toasting glasses throughout the room congratulating your marriage! The extra veggie platter, shrimp apps, and extravagant centerpiece wont be the center of attention the people will be.

2. Designate Your Celebratory Space

Before you plan your reception know exactly where you want people to mix and mingle. Fantastic receptions brim with family and friends who feel comfortable, meet, talk, dance, and become acquainted with one another. Dont let guests leave early, slip away to check out the impressive surroundings of your location, or run outside for a smoke and then never come back to join the party. Define the space with ribbons or closed doors. Dont be afraid to close off certain areas or rooms. The liveliest receptions have a common area where guests are mingling and activities are taking place. A designated space ensures guests catch and capture each wonderful moment as it unfolds.

3. Special Activities Just For The Joy Of It

Remember, 80% of your guests wont know each other. The greatest wedding memories are the new friendships and extended family bonds created at your wedding. Use interactive games, specialty dances, bold announcements, or fun activities during the reception to break the ice and help people get to know one other. Suddenly youll see people laughing and enjoying themselves instead of feeling shy or retreating on the sidelines.

4. Let Go, Have Fun & Toss Your Worries Aside

The bride sets the stage and the tone for reception party. This is the time and place for all brides to let go, have fun, and toss any last minute worries aside. Let the months of planning and masterful professionals youve selected take over and do what they do best. You only have one job - to be the most radiant and loveliest guest of honor. Show up and celebrate! If you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, your guests will sense it and feel uncomfortable too. You have the power and pleasure to give your guests permission to let loose and have a great time!

5. Dance Your Little Heart Out

One saucy shoe must be the first to step out on the dance floor. Guests will be looking to you for permission and timing to dance. As soon as you get up and dance, theyll let loose and do a little rumba too! People are typically shy and most guests are very careful not to offend or overstep their boundaries. Plan to play music you love so you are comfortable. Your physical cues can create a safe space for them to dance, toe-tap, celebrate, toast, and party. Watch friends and family get up and dance, thoroughly enjoy themselves, then talk about what a fabulous reception it was in the morning.

6. Embellish, Adorn, and Decorate

The dcor sets the mood at the reception. Simple dcor is not only best, it is marvelously elegant. Elegant doesnt have to mean expensive. Think sentimental instead of expensive and youll amaze yourself with the brilliant ideas that come to mind. Since flowers are typically 15% of the overall wedding budget, you can save money by intermingling silk flowers. Want a discount, ask for one! Many places give quantity and wedding discounts. Use your imagination and let your creativity take over.

7. Invite Groups of People That Know Each Other

No doubt your guests will be coming from many different walks of life - but the more people you bring together with common bonds - the more alive the reception will be. People feel safest when they are surrounded by people and situations that are familiar to them. Watch the twinkle in the eyes of your family members sparkle as they greet familiar faces from way back when. Notice work friends create a tribe of sorts and fill up the dance floor. Birds of a feather flock together. Invite groups of people that know each other and see a warm, wonderful, and happy vibe wash over the reception.

8. Serve Thirst Quenching Libations

Every reception should have beer, wine, or alcoholic beverages available. Hesitant??? Think again. Cocktails loosen people up and lessen inhibitions. Even people who do not drink, often make exceptions at weddings. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event and rules can and will be broken. Keep the cost down. Serve beer on tap, inexpensive bottles of wine (Charles Shaw for $1.99/bottle), or have a cash only bar with free soft drinks and water. All the fun at a fraction of the cost.

9. Early Notice and Save The Date Announcements

Your invitees wont want to miss your big day, but with very busy schedules advance notice is not a luxury its required. Invite people well in advance. 30% of guests that dont show decline because they didnt get enough advance notice. Send an electronic save the date message via email or try a unique and money saving save the date photo postcard for as little as $.65 a card including postage. Avoid disappointing Will Not Attends that arrive late in the mail or worse yet embarrassing Yes response cards from people who dont show up. As rude as this is, people hate to say no. Giving people advance notice a minimum of 3 weeks - will minimize disappointment and embarrassment and bring all your favorite people together.

10. Use The One Hour Gathering Rule

Party "kick-off" starts one hour after the official start time. Many people will show up late so use the one hour gathering rule to account for lateness and all the other influences out of your control traffic, distance, directions, babysitters, weather, and other unknowns. Begin with an intimate one-hour cocktail or champagne reception to entertain before the party officially starts. Play inviting music and host an open bar if you choose. Because most guests will arrive late, serve food or appetizers toward the end of the gathering hour. This will give the effect of a perfectly planned and welcoming entrance.

Bonus Tip: Plan for a Grand Entrance Showcasing You!

We call it the dazzling ta-da entrance! This is where it all comes together. You arrive relaxed and ready to have fun. Your mood is joyful and sets the tone for an utterly enjoyable reception. Your guests havent waited longer than one hour. Youve planned ahead with the photographer and the photos are archived in the camera forever. Now before your big entrance, remember all the love you feel inside and visualize the joy inside of you sweeping guests off their feet.

Hear the melody of your favorite music fill the room and feel the anticipation of the guests expecting your arrival. Let every bit of warmth, happiness, and radiance come through as you flitter into the room. Your grand entrance will set the tone and prepare your guests for one of the most talked about wedding receptions of the year. Create ambiance and fun by lining the walkway with fresh petals, a bubble machine, or doing something personal, silly, or heartwarming that is uniquely you.

Then, let the DJ do what he does best. Youve hired the best and planned well in advance. Let your vision come together as the reality of this marvelous day unfolds. Hear each and every guest say,

It was the best time since we can remember! Andrea Wolf

Customer Review: Rosetta Stone V3-Spanish (Latin America) Level 1,2,3
I purchased this for my college-aged daughter so that she could become proficient in Spanish. This has given her the practice she needs that the classroom (high school) did not.
Customer Review: Great Addition to School Learned Spanish
I took 17 hours of Spanish during my undergraduate degree, but could not speak Spanish. I could read Spanish, but I could not understand it when spoken. Rosetta Stone takes a different approach to teaching Spanish than my university. It has made understanding and speaking Spanish within my reach. I had a strong vocabulary base, but Rosetta Stone has helped me to be able to speak and use this vocabulary in everyday conversation. This is a great complement to any Spanish curriculum. It is a wonderful option for those who couldn't learn Spanish "the old fashion way."

Like Pythagoras' intoxication with the Music of the Spheres( Wisdom), the Indian Sages were infatuated with Knowledge. Many scientific truths were recognized by them in higher states of consciousness which came to be known as the Vedas. One such sage was Vararuchi, who discovered the interrelationship between numbers and letters of the alphabet.

The concept of Name Number

These are the various numbers given to the letters of the alphabet.

A I J Q Y = 1

B K R = 2

C G L S =3

D M T = 4

E H N X =5

U V W = 6

OZ = 7

F P = 8.

No letter has been assigned the number nine.

Individual Name Number - The Name Number is arrived by adding all the digits which correspond to the letters in your name. For example

P R A S H A N T U P A S E

8 2 1 3 5 1 5 4 6 8 1 3 5 Total 52

Individual Name No : 5 + 2 = 7

Here the individual Name Number is 7 & the Combined Name Number is 52.

There are effects for both the individual and the combined name numbers in Vedic Numerology. We will deal with it in our forthcoming articles.

Two - Ruled by the Queen of the Solar Logos, the Moon

Moon is considered very important in Vedic Sidereal Astrology. Mental strength depends on the strength of the Moon in one's natal chart.

If the Twoian is YOU!

Personality Overview

Controller of Life - Moon

You are ruled numerologically by the luminary Moon. The main characteristic of Moon is its fickle& inconstant nature and this has already swayed your temperament. You are moody at times and this depression generally saps your vitality.

The best remedy for you is to take recourse to yogic practices to overcome
depression. Have implicit faith in God. Optimism is far better than
pessimism.

Your inconstant nature makes you hesitant at times. You may lack
self-assertion and become indecisive at times.

If you wear a ring studded with Moonstone you can overcome the negative
vibrations of this number. This ring should be worn on Monday of the bright
fortnight after dedicating yourself to the Lord.

Lunarians are generally timid and accommodative. Hence they are sentimental
and oversensitive.Heavenly topics interest you a great deal. You show
inclination towards Astrology and other allied sciences.

Wealthwise you are subject to terrific ups and downs corresponding to the
lunar phases of waxing and waning. You will be subject to emotional
suffering. You like to travel. Your honesty will be appreciated by people.

Your personal magnetism will win friends and influence people. Your special
charm will offset the minuspoints caused by the fickle and inconstant nature
of the Moon.

Mental strength and courage will be adversely affected at times. The ideal
remedial measure will be to fast on Mondays consecrating yourself to the
Mother Divine.

In Vedic Astrology, Moon rules the mind ( Manasthu Hinagu ). If you consider
Milton's statement " Mind is its own place and can make a Hell out of Heaven
or a Heaven out of Hell", you can visualize how important a luminary Moon
is. The Vedas averr that Moon represents the mind of the Cosmic Man
(Chandrama manaso Jatha ) and is one of the important political planets.
Moon rules over three constellations of the Sidereal Zodiac - Aldebaran
(Rohini), Delta Corvi (Hasta) & Altair (Sravana).

the luck of the Twoians. The Sanskrit text The Jataka Chandrika assigns
Pearl to the Moon ( Vimalam Muktaphalam Sheetagau ) Monday is the day of the
Moon (from the Latin dies Luna & the Sanskrit Somavar).

There is nothing like watching salsa dancers. They are so confident, sexy and dynamic. The music makes you want to get out there and dance too. So let's go. Yes, you! You can do this! Everybody has a little Salsa in their soul.

Like its culinary namesake, the Salsa is spicy and complex in flavor, yet surprisingly easy to create. Salsa can combine elements of several different dances such as the Mambo, the Cha Cha, the Rumba, Jazz and Latin Ballroom, among others. Salsa is a free and expressive dance that is continually evolving as newer and more diverse elements are incorporated into the style. Salsa has become extremely popular all over the world. You can go to a Salsa club just about anywhere you go now. From Sydney to Shanghai, everyone is learning to Salsa.

When you first become drawn to Salsa and begin to think about taking some classes, you may be a little intimidated. Salsa dancers with years of experience can make the most complex footwork and turn patterns look effortless, but that's not how any of them started. We all start at the beginning, and the beginning is just as fun as the more advanced moves you see in competitions. You don't have to learn any of the more elaborate moves to feel right at home in a Salsa club.

In a beginning Salsa class you and your partner will learn not only some basic steps and other body positions, but how to feel the music and begin to express the music through your body. There is a basic body rhythm and some easy footwork that will become second-nature to you very quickly. Rather than being a little unsure when you go out Salsa dancing, you will be able to go out on the dance floor right away. You will be surprised to see how a few simple movements will make you fit right in at any Salsa club.

Watch the other people at the Salsa clubs when you go out dancing after you've taken a few Salsa classes. You may be really surprised to see that some of the moves that seemed complex a few weeks ago don't look quite as difficult that you once thought. That turn that looked so difficult the last time you saw it is just a modified version of the turn you learned in class. It will just take a bit of practice. You and your partner will probably be able to learn some more advanced moves just by having fun at the club.

Once you learn the basics and get more comfortable at the Salsa club, you can take some advanced classes and learn more elaborate footwork. Then you'll really be able to show off your dancing skills when you go out with your friends.

No matter whether you just take a few classes to learn the basics of Salsa or go on to advanced classes, the enjoyment you will get out of learning to Salsa is something you will have for the rest of your life.

Want to learn to dance? Wish you could move your body confidently on the dance floor? Or would you just like to have a great excuse to get out and meet people? Well for all of the above come and visit Dance Vogue where professional dancer and teacher Natalie Beck show you how to take the next step.

If you have your wedding around the corner and are worried about that first dance, Natalie has a lot of experience helping couples get confident and looking great dancing together in a short period of time. Have a look at her wedding dance lessons to get up to speed.
